Congratulations to Sister Louise Grundish, Chaplain for the Allegheny County Board and Allegheny County Division 11. She recently celebrated 65 years of religious life with the Sisters of Charity Seton Hill, Greensburg, PA.

Marge Visokey

Sue Donnelly of Allegheny County awards Marge Visokey for her 70 years of service to the LAOH! See the County News page for additional information.

Our Lady of Knock Mass was held on August 22, 2015. Marge Visokey of Division 4 was honored with a Lifetime Membership for her 70 years of service to the LAOH (see photo on Home page). In addition, five LAOH sisters became members of the Golden Rose Club for their 20 years of service to our order. These sisters are: Mary Lou Conroy, Beverly Coll and Elaine Walsh Dattilo of Division 11 in Oakland and Mary Drane and Mary Tatangelo of Castle Shannon, Allegheny County, PA.

Despite the snow and cold, members of Allegheny County AOH and LAOH traveled to Washington, DC on January 22 for the 41st Annual Right to Life March. Members of Allegheny County LAOH attended a tour of the Flight 93 National Memorial. The tour volunteer, Suzanne Heller, (center) a member of Division 17, conducted a private tour for LAOH and AOH members. The Memorial is the nation’s memorial to the passengers and crew of Flight 93.

Flight 93 Memorial

Allegheny County Board

On August 17, the Pittsburgh Irish Community celebrated a Mass of Remembrance of the 32nd Anniversary of the 1981 Hunger Strikers at St. Patrick’s Church, in the Strip District. Members representing the various Irish organizations in Pittsburgh processed in carrying pictures of the 10 men. Shirley Murphy, PA State Missions & Charities Chair represented the LAOH. Fr. Thomas O’Donnell, AOH Chaplain and Fr. Jeremiah O’Shay concelebrated the mass held outside in the courtyard.

Philadelphia County

The Ladies of Philadelphia County who attended the AOH/LAOH PA State convention 2013.


On 8/26/2013, five ladies from Philadelphia County took the training from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia entitled “Protecting God’s Children.” This training is required for any officers that are involved with LAOH Junior Divisions with guidelines on making safe environments for children. The training took place at St. Matthew RC Church in Philadelphia. The five ladies that participated in the training include:
Ellen McCrane, PA State Vice-President, Becky Puchalski, Philadelphia County Vice-President, Deborah Clark, Philadelphia Division #17 President, Kathleen O’Connor-Arnott, Philadelphia Division #39 Vice-President and Kathleen Blair, Philadelphia Division #17 Vice-President.


Members of the Philadelphia Hibernian Hunger Project Board including LAOH State Publicity Chairperson Clare McManus-Fulginitti, Marie Dougherty, Bob Haley, and Ed Rooney representing the Philadelphia County Board LAOH at the Saint John’s Hospice 50th Annviersary Gala on September 17, 2013. Prior to the festivities, we were invited for a private audience with Archbishop Chaput of Philadelphia Archdiocese.


On Thursday, September 12th, members of the Philadelphia County board supported a fundraiser for the upcoming Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Observance Parade. Several members from other Irish organizations such as the Mayo Society, Donegal Society, GAA of Philadelphia attended as well. We were entertained by the sounds of the Philly Irish band, Jamison, who donated their time for free. The event was held at Sugar House Casino, located on Columbus Boulevard, in the Waterfront section of the City. Medals were presented to past Grand Marshalls of the parade from the past several years.
