Sister Peggy Flaherty LAOH Division 7 of Turtle Creek, PA, enjoyed an unique Paint Nite fundraiser. Friends, Div. 7 members, Div. 7 President, Bonnie Taylor, and LAOH Allegheny County President and 2015-2017 LAOH PA Missions and Charities Officer, Kathleen Diulus, (below) gathered to paint for charity at the Monroeville Irish Club, Monroeville, PA. Shirley Murphy, PA State Historian and Allegheny County Division 11 Vice President, accepted a Certificate of Merit from AOH Allegheny County Division One president Rich O’Malley at the Division’s 25th Anniversary mass. The Half-Way to St. Patrick’s Day Ham and Cabbage luncheon at Miriam’s House on September 20, 2014 was enjoyed by all. Sarah McCalla (seen here “carving the ham”) oversaw her kitchen helpers peeling potatoes, carrots and serving the lunch. The donations of desserts also made this an overwhelming success with the ladies.. The ladies at Miryams House look forward to this annual luncheon but giving the gift of time by the ladies of Division 11 is the one treasure that’s given from the heart.

The Irish American Unity Conference (IAUC) was held in Washington, DC and was entitled “The Rocky Road to a United Ireland”. The conference featured Anne Cadwallader, Author of Lethal Allies; Alan Brecknell, with the Pat Finucane Centre (who collaborated on the book); Pat Doherty, Sinn Fein, MP West Tyrone, MLA; Niall Murphy, attorney, Relatives for Justice and KRW Law, LLP, Belfast; and Roy Garland, author and Journalist, Irish News. Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH) held a “Halfway to Patty’s Day” fundraiser on the deck at Molly Maguires Pub & Steakhouse in Jim Thorpe with proceeds going to benefit the charities of the LAOH and the local food pantry.
